This is my question .. I’ve been working at a company for over 6 years. I was just put on temporary medical leave and wondering if its legal for my boss to cut off my medical insurance. I would greatly appreciate your help.
Hotel business – we have to submit a written request for leave – I entered request for leave (without pay) on Christmas day, 12/25 this coming year (I requested this in Jan of this year). I am senior person on staff and I was granted this request, and given a copy but lost the copy somewhere. At any rate the original I thought was kept in personnel files, now the manager is saying the leave was denied and I did not get permission.
I am a truck driver and would like to know if when I am making a delivery do I have to surrender my drivers license? It is becoming company policy at many places. People are even making photo copies. Can I protect myself?
We live on a dead end street which becomes a small peninsula on a local lake. If our street becomes blocked, ten homes have only one exit for emergencies, and that is to cross one neighbors yard to a private road. The owner of that property wants to put up a fence leaving us no emergency exit. Is there any legal means to prevent that fence from being built?
Whose insurance company is responsible in the following event? A school rented a building from a resort for a class. When class was dismissed for the evening, the assistant in the class fell down the stairs leading from the building and broke her arm. The director of the resort said I should contact my insurance company first. Who is responsible for the doctor bills?
Three weeks ago I came into work late and forgot to punch in. A few day later, I was reminded to fill out a missed punch form, so I stated the time that I came in was 11:30am. (An estimation because I was unsure). My manager approved the missed punch form by signing it. On Nov 29th, I was called into the assistant store managers office and was shown the said form.
There is someone who I know that has worked for a small company for several years. The person has since left that company, the owner has filed charges against the previous employee for theft of cash. The person deposited the cash into their personal checking account. The owner is saying that they are missing a much, much larger amount of cash than what the emplyee has record of.
I work for a small company in Missouri and I am paid hourly. I work 40 regular hours and about 10-15 over time hours a week. The owner of the company is supposed to pay me every other Wednesday via verbal agreement. I have worked here for 6 months and for the past two months, he has not paid me on time. The first time, he did not pay me until the following week.
A couple of years ago my former employer asked me to take part in shooting a video advert to promote its mandate. I was then approached by one of my superiors who asked me to participate in the shooting of the advert video which was later aired in the national television. I never received any kind of reward for taking part in the advert though some years later some other employees participated in the videos made by my company, they received rewards in terms of promotions for their participation which I never got.
Can I be forced to use a filthy portable bathroom at work? I live in Chicago and I am a driver for a company. We work out of a parking lot at O’Hare airport. The portable bathrooms sit on the lot where we work and we recently had a storm that blew them over. No one has come to clean them and they are filthy. I refuse to use them – they even have bugs flying around and crawling in them; the stench is unbearable. We have no running water at this place and I was told if I wanted to use them then I had to clean them.
