My ex is returning to his estranged wife, who lives in another state. We have a child and he is determined to resolve custody issues without help from the courts. I have many concerns and want to know if a court would consider them valid.
My parents, who were never legally married, separated in 2004 and my dad has never supported us or me in any way. Although we used to keep in touch, I recently asked him to send some money for school and medical reasons and he refused and is no longer returning my calls. I feel like I have to do something, as we are struggling financially. We live in Washington state and I wondered if it’s possible to get the past 6 years worth of child support.
Since his divorce we have had another baby, also their tuition has went up again this year. We just can’t afford it anymore. His attorney hasn’t really been helping us, so I was just wondering if there was some way we could go in front of a judge have our case heard. We cannot afford the retainer fee for another attorney, and I want to file some sort of motion, but I don’t know what type of motion to file for this situation.
I currently collect SSD & alimony 50/mo. Will the alimony affect my SSD? Also, I’d like to work a little, can I work in addition to alimony & SSD.
Does alimony still have to be paid when the x-spouse files and receives social security benefits off of the one paying alimony or do the two combined just have to equal the amount? For example: alimony is ,000.00 a month and social security she receives would be 00.00…..would only 00.00 need to be paid out of pocket to equal the ,000.00? If not, how does it work?
I am 38 years old my father died 9 to 10 years ago, he did not pay any child support while I was growing up is there a way to collect that money from his social security. My parents where divorced when I was 5 years old, my brother was 3 and he was ordered to pay 00.00 a month for support and 00.00 in spousal support. We never received any money from him the entire time I was growing up.
There is a chance I might be going to jail. Can my ex get alimony payments stopped if I am imprisoned? There is no termination date on the alimony in the judgment, We’ve been married for over 30 years.
My husband and I have been married for little over 2 yrs, he became disabled during that time, can he ask me for alimony? He collects SSD and I work full time and have a child from a former marriage.
I’m in divorce process and was wandering if my wife would be entitled for alimony payments. We have been married in Russia about 20 years ago and live in US for 10 years . I agree to live her our house with an equity of about 100 K, 2/3 of our non pension savings (I only get about 35 K, she gets about 70K), and also agree to compensate her to equalize our pension funds. Will I need in addition of leaving her so much assets in her benefit still pay alimony if she decides to go to court? Also, would be divorce process any different for people who married in foreign country?
I have been divorced for about 6 years and at the time of the divorce, I trusted my ex to support his six children without the request for child support. He has been terrible to deal with and I can’t get him to pay enough support to support my children. I should have listened to the lawyer at the time and asked for alimony and support.
