My son and his girlfriend are having a baby. The baby is due this week and they have both signed consent for adoption papers. My son is having a terrible time with all of this and has changed his mind about putting the baby up for adoption. He already loves the baby and wants to raise him.
In 2002 I was a drug addict and knew after giving birth that I would be doing time , so I found a woman to adopt my son. We knew nothing of how to go about legal adoption papers and were told that a notarized document would be sufficient. Not so! I had a c-section and was heavily sedated after giving birth. While the new mom and her, at the time, boyfriend were in the room or rather, he was alone, he forged his name on the birth certificate. He was not, nor has he ever been, a very nice person and he knew that his and her relationship was coming to an end – this was the ultimate revenge.
I have a brother and, through him, I have a niece who I legally took custody of when she was 1 month old, due to my brother being imprisoned for 6yrs and my sister-in-law passing away. My brother finished serving his time and has now been deported back to Mexico. He is now threatening to come back and take my niece back to Mexico to live with him and his new family. My niece is now 9 years old and I would like to see if I could file for adoption of her. I have heard of a law that says that after 5yrs of custody of her, I would have the right to adopt her. Is it true that there is such a law? Please help me with this. I want what is best for the benefit of my niece.
My Brother recently passed away and shortly after I was informed that his girlfriend of a year was pregnant. I made contact with her soon after this and learned that she was pregnant and believed it was his and was releasing the baby for adoption. She is living in an Adoption Network apartment in southern California. We expressed interest in adopting the baby and she mutually agreed that she would like for us to adopt the baby, but she needed to first check with her case worker.
A friend of mine recently met his daughter for the first time, he did not know that she existed until she found him, she is 13 years old. She is currently living with her grandfather on her mother’s side. Her mother died a few years ago. My friend would really like custody of his daughter. What would be the best course of action to getting custody of his daughter? They both live in California.

If my niece is having a baby and doesn’t want it but I do, can she just sign rights over to me and put my husband and I on the birth certificate in the hospital instead of going through adoption? We are in California and I was told that was possible.
I am eighteen years old, work part-time at Kroger and am in college full-time. Both of my soon-to-be 12-year old sister’s parents are deceased, and we share the same mother who is deceased. She lives with her grandmother and is very unhappy there.
Is it possible in Missouri or Illinois for me to adopt my girlfriend’s 16 month old daughter when her biological father has been out of her life for over a year with no contact? His name isn’t even on the birth certificate. I have been supporting her for the last year and wouldn’t change a bit of it.
