I have a four year old autistic son, almost a year ago my soon-to-be ex-husband left town and I do not know where he is. I am trying to find out how to take his parental rights away when I don’t even know where he is. He has not paid me money to help, or contacted me.
I am 29 with two teen-aged half sisters who live with their father, our mother, and our mother’s new husband. Our mother and her new husband are in and out of jail, not often in the house. I found needles and a prescription for someone else’s morphine next to my mother’s bed last time I visited, and I know she was arrested for possession of meth-amphetamines last month. Their father has to go to jail for unpaid fines on a DUI and has given my twin sister permission to have the girls live with her while he’s in jail since no one knows where our mother is.
I had custody of my son for 12 years. When he turned 14, he went to live with his mother and I did not have to pay support because she receives 1,000.00 a month for him for disability and 2,000.00 for herself. Now she is taking me back to court for support. My question is: she still owes back support of 3,500.00. Can I ask the court that she cannot pursue support until she pays the back support?
My girlfriend of 12 years and her adult children were evicted from her apartment, and to help them out, I said they could live with me. On 3/16/2012, she said she was going to her aunt’s place for weekend, and on Monday 3/19/2012, I received a text message that said she is leaving her two children (17 and 22) with me and is now living with her aunt. My question is what can I do?
I live in South Carolina and by law my husband and I have to wait 1 year before we can file for our divorce. We have a 4 year old daughter who lives with me and has lived with me since our separation. Can I keep my daughter from seeing her father if I have proof of drug abuse and the fact that he has not tried to see her but 5 times during the 11 months we have lived separately? He has never been involved, even during the duration of our marriage, and I am afraid to allow her to see him alone considering his drug use.
Does the Support order ruled in Indiana (until the age of 21) remain the same if the child (3 children in this case) hasn’t lived in Indiana for almost 10 years? Meaning, is it still ruled until the age of 21? Custodial Parent moved to Michigan in 2002.
I’m currently almost eight months pregnant. When I was five months pregnant the child’s father broke up with me and kicked me out his house. Since then I moved to another state with family, now my question is: as much I don’t want him in her life because of all the stress he caused me (I could have miscarried), if we go to court, what type of visitation rights might he get being he lives in a different state?
My son was born in Illinois and when I signed the birth certificate with the man I was with at the time, he told me he wanted his name on it, even knowing that it was a 50% chance he was not the father. He pressured me at the time and I signed it with him. My son is now 12 and we are no longer together. We were together for 18 years, but never married. He took his own DNA test and is not the father. He said that I will go to jail for perjury because I signed him as the father.
Can my ex-wife change my daughter’s last name without my consent? A few years back I got into some trouble because of poor decisions on my part. Ultimately I had to register as a sex offender. I did not go to prison and I did not lose visitation rights to my kids, in fact I still have custody of my son.
A child is in Morris Co. NJ DYFS care, no father listed on birth certificate. A man was told he was the father of this child but the mother wanted to wait for paternity testing until she regained custody. Three months later, she has not regained custody. The alleged father calls DYFS, gives them all the information they asked for and is still waiting for the paternity test to be scheduled.
