“I met a friend in March of 2005 that lives is a different area of Texas than I do. He drove down to visit me at my home. While he was visiting he purchased a second vehicle because he found a really good deal. The first vehicle is still parked in my drive way, 8 months later. I have made numerous attempts to contact him with no reply (we stopped talking in August 2005). I have made three contacts with a sister of his and she states she does not know where he is. My question is this: What are my rights in removing this vehicle from my property? Does it ever become mine to sell?”
You should call the non-emergency number of your local police department, and ask them how to go about filing a complaint about an abandoned vehicle, and how to have it removed.
At no point does the vehicle become yours, and if you were to sell it you could be found guilty of a crime known as conversion.
