“I am a month late with paying my mortgage. The company is constantly calling, early in the morning up till about 9:00. I get approximately 10 calls a day. I feel like I’m being abused. Can you please let me know if theres anything that can be done.”
Check your local area for attorneys who handle claims under the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). There are very specific rules about when, how, and to what extent debt collectors can call you, and if they are violating those rules, you can get them to stop.
Note that this doesn’t make the debt go away, and they can still take legal steps, up to and including foreclosure. However, you should be able to get them to stop harrassing you in the meantime.
