What is Penalty for First Offense Under Marijuana Laws?
|
Summary
Marijuana laws vary from state to state, but for a first possession offense without intent to sell, there is a chance of probation, community service, and drug counselling. |
“I was recently charged with a misdeameanor possession of marijuana charge. I had less than a gram on my person and the person driving the vehicle had substantially less than an ounce. What am I looking at, worst case scenario? I am 21 and I have had no violations of any sort in the past, not even a traffic violation.”
Without knowing more about the facts, which state you are in, and the marijuana laws of that state, it’s very difficult to say, but so long as you had an amount which did not put you into the “intent to sell” category, it’s quite possible that you are looking at probation and community services and/or drug counselling.
