My next door neighbor cut down one of my pine trees. I planted several of these trees 23 years ago as a border. The town owns the property next door and it is rented out to Section 8 tenants. The town claims they are not responsible for reimbursement. What are my options?

Off the top of my head, I would think you could sue the neighbor, or possibly even report them to the police for vandalism/destruction of property. Assuming, of course, you can prove that it was them who did it.

I would also give some thought to putting up a fence.
